Read your E-Books on the go and offline

Most E-Books can be used on the go and offline. Scientific E-Books are primarily suitable for use on the PC or on Tablets, but their use on E-Readers is limited.

The books can be read and saved in ePub format, sometimes also in a special PDF format (ipef) on the iPad or Android tablet. First of all install Adobe Digital Editions on your device.

ProQuest

To be able to us the books of ProQuest Ebook Central online & offline, you need to create a personal account. Download books:
Click on «Full Download». For PC or Mac you need the software Adobe Digital Editions. For mobile devices you also need the Bluefire Reader. The book download is accessible for 7, sometimes 14 days. After that the access expires, but the e-book can be downloaded again.

Thieme Electronic Book Library and other publishers

Bluefire

For Thieme and other publishers it is recommended to save both formats with the app  Bluefire Reader in order to be able to read books in ePub and PDF format (epub, ipef and pdf files), mark and annotate text sections and search the whole book. The ePub format also allows you to select the font and font size. The books expire after one year, but can be saved again if the title is still licensed and the user has access to the UZH network.
